What students see: The ball can stay in the funnel instead of blowing away. Question: Why doesn't your breath push the ball out? 2. Water Held by a Mesh Screen Materials: Jar/cup; water; fine mesh screen; card; tray What you do: Cover cup with mesh, invert carefully, then remove support card. What students see: Water can remain in the inverted cup behind the mesh. Question: How can a screen full of holes hold water? 3. Toilet-Paper Air Stream Materials: Hair dryer/leaf blower on low; roll of toilet paper What you do: Direct air over the roll so the paper unspools dramatically. What students see: A long streamer shoots across the room. Question: Can moving air pull out an entire roll?
