Tilt-Switch Light Box

Tilt-Switch Light Box https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1D74YT7uWJId80twUfnks8ow-KHCMck1H Days: 2 Mode: Individual Take-home: Working light box

Teaching & key ideas

Key concepts: Closed circuits, LEDs, polarity, switches/sensors, troubleshooting. Hook: Tilt a finished box so the light turns on/off without a visible pushbutton. Test / evidence: LED lights reliably in the intended orientation and turns off when tilted back. Variables to change: Sensor orientation; LED placement; light diffusion.

Lesson flow

Lesson plan: Day 1: Circuit demo → wire LED + tilt sensor → test orientation Day 2: Build into box → troubleshoot → add artwork/light diffusion Safety / cleanup: Prefer an enclosed AA battery pack for take-home. No loose coin/button cells; if an LR44 holder cannot be securely enclosed, the battery remains at school. Teacher inspects every connection and battery enclosure.
