Materials: Drinking bird toy; cup of water
What you do: Wet bird's felt head and let it cycle.
What students see: Bird repeatedly tips into the water.

2. Instant Cold Pack
Materials: Commercial instant cold pack
What you do: Activate pack and feel outside temperature change.
What students see: Pack gets cold without ice.
Question: Where did the heat go?
3. Hot Ice Tower
Materials: Prepared supersaturated sodium acetate; seed crystal; tray
What you do: Pour solution onto seed crystal.
What students see: Liquid freezes/crystallizes into a warm tower instantly.
Question: Why does touching one crystal change the whole liquid?
