1. UV Beads Change Color Materials: UV-sensitive beads; sunlight/UV flashlight What you do: Move beads from indoor light to UV/sunlight. What students see: Clear/pale beads become brightly colored. Question: What kind of light can we not see but the beads can detect? 2. Tonic Water Glows Materials: Tonic water; UV flashlight; regular water comparison What you do: Illuminate both in dim area. What students see: Tonic water glows blue. Question: Why does the glow stop when the UV light stops? 3. Glow Powder Keeps Glowing Materials: Glow-in-dark object/powder sealed in clear container; bright light What you do: Charge under light, then darken room. What students see: Object continues glowing after light is removed. Question: Why does this glow last longer than tonic water?
