Grouping: Individual
Take-home: Working light box
Key ideas: Closed circuits, LEDs, polarity, switches/sensors, troubleshooting.
Start with: Tilt a finished box so the light turns on/off without a visible pushbutton.
Success check: LED lights reliably in the intended orientation and turns off when tilted back.
Try changing: Sensor orientation; LED placement; light diffusion.
Preparation: Pre-test sensors/LEDs; 3D-print battery holders; prepare safe connection method.
Lesson flow: Day 1: Circuit demo → wire LED + tilt sensor → test orientation
Day 2: Build into box → troubleshoot → add artwork/light diffusion
Safety and cleanup: Prefer an enclosed AA battery pack for take-home. No loose coin/button cells; if an LR44 holder cannot be securely enclosed, the battery remains at school. Teacher inspects every connection and battery enclosure.
