Gel-Plate Printmaking Studio

Resource Guide

Gel-Plate Printmaking StudioRoll printmaking ink on reusable gel plates, add leaves/textures/stencils, pull prints, and layer colors. Grades: K–1; TK simplified Independence: Teacher-supported For younger students: TK works with one pre-portioned color and large easy-to-grab textures; teacher handles ink refills. K/1 can roll ink and clean plates after training. Independent work: Use tray-based stations with one plate/brayer per tray. Limit available colors and textures so cleanup stays predictable. Lesson flow: Teach the setup and visual routine first, then open as a rotating station when students can begin, work, and clean up independently. Safety and cleanup: Follow the teacher notes and supervise any activity marked Teacher-supported.
