Leather Stamping Studio

Resource Guide

Leather Stamping StudioStamp patterns, symbols, and letters into real vegetable-tanned leather blanks to make bookmarks, cuffs, tags, or ornaments. Grades: 1st; selected K with supervision Independence: Teacher-supported For younger students: Stamping only—no swivel knives, carving blades, or sharp tooling. Teacher pre-cuts blanks and can pre-dampen leather for K. Use simple border/pattern cards. Independent work: One mallet-and-stamp tray per station. Teach that the mallet stays low, fingers hold the stamp above the striking area, and tools return to outlined spots. Lesson flow: Teach the setup and visual routine first, then open as a rotating station when students can begin, work, and clean up independently. Safety and cleanup: Follow the teacher notes and supervise any activity marked Teacher-supported.
